KATHMANDU: The Central Bureau of Statistics has requested one and all to not affect the on-site data collection work under the National Census-2078 BS and not to discourage the impartial work being done by the employees.

The CBS has issued a press release Tuesday urging all concerned to fully comply with the National Census Operation Guideline, 2077 BS as any kind of opinion and statement that endangers the lives of the employees would increase mutual conflict and adversely affect the census work.

In the census that started on November 11 some individuals and organizations have expressed their views that accurate data cannot be obtained from the work of some enumerators involved in on-site data collection.

The CBS has said that national and international practice has been followed in formulating questionnaires and other calculations and the CBS established as per the Statistics Act 2015 is an independent body of the state which collects, processes, publishes, distributes and stores data.

It has also clarified that it is not possible to collect accurate data by motivating the respondent to give the answer according to their personal or institutional decision different from the reality. Around 40,000 enumerators and 8,500 supervisors have been deployed across the country for data collection.
