Nepal expresses concern over Amit Shah’s statement

KATHMANDU: Nepal has expressed its concern over alleged objectionable remarks made by Indian Home Minster Amit Shah on India’s plan to ‘expand its party’s government’ in Nepal.

According to the sources at Nepali Embassy in India, Nepal’s Ambassador to India Nilambar Acharya has raised the issue during the meeting with Indian External Affairs Ministry officials.

It is said that the External Affairs official assured Acharya to find out what has happened in that regard.

In a public function a few days ago, Tripura’s Chief Minister Biplav Dev had said that Home Minister Shah had publicly stated that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is planning to form its government in neighboring countries, including Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Political parties in India have strongly criticized the allegedly objectionable remarks of Minister Shah.

Indian Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has officially objected to the remark pointing out that such remarks smear the friendly relationship with the neighbors.
