Three members from PM Shah’s secretariat contest for RSP central committee

CHITWAN: Three members from the secretariat of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) senior leader and Prime Minister Balendra Shah have filed candidacies for positions in the party’s central committee.

According to Prime Minister’s Office press coordinator Surendra Bajagain, Shah’s chief political advisor Asim Shah, policy, administration and good governance advisor Sudip Dhakal, and youth leader and the Prime Minister’s personal deputy secretary Prakriti Dhakal have filed nominations for central committee membership.

Political advisor Shah has filed his candidacy under the open Muslim inclusion category. He is regarded as one of the key figures behind efforts to create political cooperation and integration between Balendra Shah and the RSP.

During the Gen Z movement held on Bhadra 23 and 24, he was reportedly the first to resign from his parliamentary position.

Shah had argued that alternative political forces should work together in line with the spirit of the Gen Z movement and is said to have played a significant role in bringing both sides to dialogue.

Known as a close political associate of Prime Minister Shah, Asim has recently been active as a political and strategic advisor to the government. He has played a role in coordination among alternative political forces, policy discussions, political dialogue and organizational expansion.

Similarly, Prime Minister Balendra Shah’s policy, administration and good governance advisor Sudip Dhakal has filed candidacy for an open central committee member position in the RSP, according to press coordinator Bajagain.

Dhakal, who is known for preferring work over public attention, has recently been involved behind the scenes in party integration efforts, governance campaigns and administrative reform initiatives.

He had also worked alongside Shah at Kathmandu Metropolitan City as an advisor on information technology and governance matters. His work included developing information systems, promoting digital administration and institutionalizing data-driven decision-making processes.

Dhakal is also said to have played a coordinating role in political restructuring and cooperation efforts following the Gen Z movement, including facilitating dialogue between Balendra Shah and the RSP.

Meanwhile, Bajagain said that Prakriti Dhakal has registered her candidacy under the open women’s category for central committee membership.

Prakriti has long been active in public health, social protection, policy research, youth leadership development and nonprofit management and is regarded within the RSP as a young leader with expertise in policy issues.

She has been working in public policy, strategic planning and inter-ministerial coordination and recently returned to Nepal after completing a master’s degree in Global Health Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science in the United Kingdom.
