KATHMANDU: The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) made public a vision paper ‘Rastriya Aarthik Rupantaran (National Economic Transformation)-2030’ as part of 10-year strategic plan on the occasion of 55th annual general meeting on Saturday.
The vision paper launched with the slogan ‘Private Sector for Prosperity’ aims to expand the national economy to $100 billion by 2030. The paper has identified 19 key focus areas and 100 initiatives for rapid economic development of the country and aims to employ 2.2 million people in the next 10 years.
FNCCI President Shekhar Golchha in the program Saturday stressed the need of active engagement of the private sector for economic transformation. He also said FNCCI would work for economic recovery following COVID-19, policy reforms, development of small cottage and industries, investment promotion, free market, infrastructure development, labor management and capacity development, among other areas, to transform the national economy.
The vision paper calls for readying framework for rapid economic development and prioritizing various sectors such as agriculture, industry, manufacturing and service industry.
The private sector will need an investment of around $150 billion to give shape to the vision outlined in the paper. The paper also envisions double digit growth of the national economy by 2030.
It also calls for amendment of laws to facilitate economic growth, agricultural modernization, increased foreign investments, e-governance, and an export-oriented strategic plan, promoting youth and women entrepreneurship, reduction of trade deficit, among others.
