Patan High Court upholds Chitwan court’s decision on conflict-era Adhikari murder case



KATHMANDU: Patan High Court on Sunday upheld the decision of Chitwan District Court in a case filed against 12 persons for their involvement in the murder of Krishna Prasad Adhikari of Fujel, Gorkha.

The 12 persons accused of abducting and killing Krishna Prasad Adhikari were acquitted by the bench of Justices Chandi Raj Dhakal and Merina Shrestha of Chitwan District Court in November 2018.

Adhikari was allegedly kidnapped and killed by the then CPN (Maoists) cadres during the armed conflict in Chitwan on June 6, 2004.

Late Nanda Prasad Adhikari (victim’s father) and Ganga Maya Adhikari (mother) had filed a case against 12 persons, accusing them of killing their son. They held numbers hunger strikes demanding justice for their deceased son. The father died in the process and the mother has been relentlessly holding hunger strikes till date.

Chitwan District Court had cited the lack of evidence to prove the crime of the accused in the case.
