Govt to set up 16,000 centers for COVID-19 vaccination: Health Minister Tripathi

Assures of transparent procurement and fair distribution of vaccines



KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi has said that the coronavirus vaccines will be procured in a transparent manner and distributed fairly.

Speaking at a first press meet on Monday after assuming his office, Minister Tripathi said that the vaccination campaign was his first priority.

“We do not want to exclude the private sector from the procurement process. There have been various rumors outside. First, the procurement process though government to government will be taken forward,” said Minister Tripathi, “Initially, the frontline workers, chronically ill and elderly will be vaccinated.”

Minister Tripathi said that all the legal complications for the purchase of vaccines have been eliminated.

Minister Tripathi said that during his tenure, he would give priority to the vaccination campaigns, construction of basic hospitals, and staff adjustment.

Meanwhile, the government is planning to set up 16,000 vaccination centers for vaccination against COVID-19.

Minister Tripathi said that 5,000 employees and 52,000 women health volunteers would be mobilized for the vaccination program.

Minister Tripathi claimed that Nepal was not far behind neighboring countries in vaccination.
