Pashupatinath temple to open from today

KATHMANDU: The Pashupatinath temple remains closed for four and a half months for devotees in consideration of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, preparations have been made to open the temple for devotees from 5:30 am on Friday after holding a chyama or forgiveness pooja Thursday organized by Pashupati Area Development Trust.

The temple will be open only till 1:00 pm in the afternoon as the risk of coronavirus is low but not completely removed. Devotees who want to visit Pashupatinath temple must wear a mask. Only 25 devotees will be allowed to enter the temple at a time.

To enter the temple, devotees have to queue up maintaining physical distance.

The PADT has made arrangements to enter the temple through one door and exit through the other door. The special pooja will not be open from Friday, said Dr. Ghanshyam Khatiwada, executive director of the Fund. The Pashupatinath temple was closed to devotees for nine months in the first wave of coronavirus pandemic in Nepal.
