UML leaders reach EC to inquire about their petition seeking revocation of Maoist Center

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML leaders including former Minister Mani Thapa, Prabhu Sah and Top Bahadur Rayamajhi who had filed petitions seeking revocation of the party registration of CPN-Maoist Center at the Election Commission (EC), on July 7, have gone to the Commission to inquire about the progress being made in their petitions.

According to sources, former Maoist Center leaders who joined ruling CPN-UML,  after Supreme Court Verdict annulled the erstwhile Nepal Communist Party, filed a petition claiming their former party deserved revocation for it did not fulfill the mandatory legal obligation a party has to fulfill for legitimate operation.

Former Ministers Manichandra Thapa, Prabhu Shah, Top Bahadur Rayamajhi and Gaurishankar Chaudhary reached the Election Commission, on Friday, to get information about the Commission’s response on their petition.

They urged EC for early decision on their petition.

After they left Maoist Center, it had expelled them and recommended vacating their position as lawmakers from the party which had ultimately resulted in their losing the post of ministers.
