Sister drowns, elder sister missing



BHERI: A child has drowned in the Bheri river today, while her elder sister is missing. Geeta Dangi, a resident of Chaurjahari municipality-12 in West Rukum died after being swept away by the river, police said.

Geeta’s sister Deepa however is still missing. Ram Bahadur Dangi,17, who had accompanied the two sisters was rescued, Jakarkot police said.

The three had reportedly gone to Rawat village in Bheri municipality-1 to meet their relatives when they decided to go for a swim in the river.

The two sisters were swept away when they tried to save Ram Bahadur from being drowned. Geeta and Ram Bahadur were immediately rescued, but Geeta died during treatment at Jakarkot hospital. Ram Bahadur’s condition is normal.

Meanwhile, a search is underway to find Deepa, who is feared to have drowned.
