PM Oli lauds SC verdict on NCP authenticity

Walks out of parliament building without attending meeting

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Oli has lauded the Supreme Court verdict to revive former NCP (UML) and NCP (Maoist) parties.

“I have not gone through the full text of the verdict yet,” PM Oli said adding that he would decide on his future move after going through the SC verdict.

PM Oli gave brief remarks while exiting the Parliament on Sunday afternoon. However, it is not clear why PM Oli left the House meeting before the start of the session of the reinstated HoR.

Giving its verdict on the long-pending dispute related to the recognition of NCP, the SC declared Rishi Kattel’s NCP as the authentic party on Sunday.

The verdict has refused to recognize the unification of former CPN-UML and Maoist and has said that they should go to the Election Commission if they wanted to unify the party and get a new name.
