Home Ministry suspends Inspector Sharma



KATHMANDU: Inspector Gayatri Raj Sharma, deployed at the Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot has been suspended.

Sharma was suspended by the Home Ministry on the recommendation of the Police Headquarters, Naxal.

According to an official of the Metropolitan Police Office, Ranipokhari, he has been suspended to initiate an investigation on the allegation of taking a bribe of Rs 15,000 from a service recipient.

Kathmandu SSP Ashok Singh had started an investigation against Sharma on the basis of a report by Thankot Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ghanshyam Shrestha. As soon as Sharma is suspended, a separate committee will be formed to investigate.

Sharma is accused of delaying the investigation report in an accident in Kalanki and prolonging the regular process. He is accused of taking money from the relatives of the detainees.

However, Sharma has denied taking the money. He has been complaining that DSP Shrestha is biased against him.
