Valley receives heavy rainfall; 385 houses inundated



KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Valley has witnessed a heavy rainfall on Monday morning.

According to meteorologist Min Kumar Aryal, the Kathmandu Valley has received heavy rainfall in just four hours on this morning. Kathmandu received 105 mm of rainfall until 6 am. Similarly, Nagarkot of Bhaktapur has received 41 mm of rainfall, according to Aryal.

More than 100 places have been inundated by the heavy rain that fell from 2 am to 6 am today. The coastal areas of small and big rivers in the Valley have been inundated following heavy rains. The coastal areas including Bagmati, Bishnumati, Dhobikhola, Hanumante and Manhora rivers have swollen up after the floods.

According to the police, the corridors of Anamnagar, Ratopul, Kalopul, Balkhu and other riverside areas of the Valley have been inundated. Similarly, the fruit and vegetable market of Balkhu has also been inundated.

Meanwhile, police have been deployed to Tankeshwar, Dallu, Teku, Tahachal, Banaspati Chowk, New Bus Park, Paropakar Kendra, Machhapokhari, Guheshwari, Jorpati, Kandaghari and other areas for rescue operations.

Spokesperson of the Metropolitan Police Office Sushil Singh Rathore said that 385 households were reported to have been inundated this morning.
