Upper Tamakoshi Hydro with 456-MW comes into operation with full capacity



KATHMANDU: The Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Project with 456-MW has started commercial power generation from Sunday.

The project has been successful and come into operation with full capacity by overcoming numerous problems including natural calamities, obstruction by India at the border, Gorkha earthquake and coronavirus pandemic.

Chief Executive Officer of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Company Limited, Bigyan Prasad Shrestha, informed that the largest project constructed with domestic investment has started commercial production successfully.

On the day of commencement of commercial production of the project in Bigu Gaonpalika-1 of Dolakha, peace rituals were performed by local lamas as per the Buddhist tradition wishing for success of the project.

The project was inaugurated on July 5. The electricity generated by the project is connected to the newly constructed 220-132 KV low Khimti substation at Sankhe in Manthali Municipality-13 of Ramechhap through a 47 km-long 220 KV double circuit transmission line.
