Employees padlock NAC office opposing transformation to public company

KATHMANDU: Employees of Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) have padlocked the corporation’s office in a bid to protest NAC’s transformation into a public company.

Three different employees unions padlocked the NAC office Tuesday and staged agitation.

Employees started agitation after the NAC Board of Directors recently drafted rules and regulations to transform the corporation into a public company and forwarded the documents to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoCTCA).

Meanwhile, police opened NAC General Manager’s office, which had been padlocked since Friday, Tuesday evening after the MoCTCA wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs to intervene.

The government brought the policy of incorporating strategic partners for strengthening NAC establishment through the budget for the upcoming fiscal year.
