Baskota accuses Maoist Center of extending political deadlock

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML leader and parliamentarian Gokul Baskota has accused the CPN (Maoist Center) of dillydallying to pull out of government in the parliament floor on Monday.

“Why isn’t the Maoist Center withdrawing its support to the government? How is the government temporary when the Maoists themselves have lent their support to the government?” Baskota wondered.

He added the Maoists are free to forge alliance with other parliamentary parties to put an end to the political deadlock in the country. “The ball is in Maoists court,” Baskota said.

Reflecting on the political stalemate, he also advocated going for fresh mandate and defended Prime Minister KP Oli’s move of dissolving the parliament on December 20, 2020.

He also stated that the incumbent government’s focus was on achieving the slogan ‘Happy Nepalis, Prosperous Nepal’ and the government had expedited development works to this end.

“Those criticizing the government without substantial agenda and just for the sake of criticizing won’t be trusted by the public,” he argued.

He opined the nation’s agenda should be set by analyzing its opportunities and challenges.
