Reconstruction of Bhimsen Temple enhancing country’s reputation: Minister Bhusal

KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources, and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal asserted that the Bhimsen Temple being reconstructed in Patan Durbar Square, Lalitpur is enhancing the country’s reputation at home and abroad.

The Temple dedicated to Bhimsen had suffered damages in the Gorkha Earthquake in 2015. The local community has been taking the lead for the reconstruction of the Temple believed to be built in the 4th century (Malla era).

At an event organized by the Lalitpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Bhimsen Temple today to install a stone-roof in the Temple, Minister Bhusal lauded the initiatives of the local community that came up with the slogan ‘Let’s build our heritage on our own and raised the fund as well as arranged human resources to rebuild the heritage and monuments damaged in the quake and subsequent aftershocks.

“The Temple did not remain frail for a long time since the locals geared up to rebuild their quake-damaged monuments,” she praised, adding that such activity had sent a positive message to people about their social responsibilities.

The Kathmandu Valley Preservation Trust has shouldered the responsibility of technical works for the reconstruction of the pagoda-style Temple.

The event saw the locals, representatives from social organizations, and indigenous communities’ forums, and artisans participating in the installation of stone-roof.
