Government committed to endorse MCC: PM Deuba

“Prachanda and I have sent a letter to the US government saying we will pass the MCC.”

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the ruling coalition will move ahead with the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) agreement.

Deuba, who returned to Nepal after participating in the ongoing COP-26 in Glasgow, Scotland, said that MCC Deputy Chief Executive Officer Alexia Latortue had talked to him about the MCC Parliament’s approval.

“I have told him that we would work with the ruling coalition to move it forward,” he said.

Prime Minister Deuba said, “Prachanda and I have already sent a letter to the US government saying we will pass the MCC.”

Political parties in Nepal are divided over the issue of endorsing the MCC.

Claiming that MCC is in Nepal’s interest, Prime Minister Deuba has been reiterating the need to endorse it at any cost.
