Government won’t let people die of hunger: PM Oli

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged one and all to extend supports in the government efforts including prohibitory order taken to contain the spread of coronavirus.

In his address to the nation Monday afternoon on the COVID-19 pandemic and contemporary issues, PM Oli asked the people to remain cautious as the second wave of COVID-19 has impacted the public life though the spread of coronavirus was controlled to some extent last year.

In his televised address to the nation, the PM also urged the neighboring and friendly countries to help in health infrastructures including supplies of oxygen.

Stating that the high-level committee formed under the leadership of the Deputy Prime Minister for the prevention and control of coronavirus last year, he said the panel was coordinating among the government bodies and managing holding centers as well as quarantine facilities across the country.

The PM was of the view that Nepal has gradually achieved progress in the development of health infrastructures. Oli said that the government was taking precautions not to deprive the citizens of health care services, and for saving people’s lives by ensuring treatment facilities.

The government was making efforts to increase the production of oxygen, according to PM Oli.

“People’s health safety is the first responsibility. The government won’t let people die of hunger due to prohibitory order. In this situation, the economy and employment would be made dynamic.
