Foreigners from 121 countries entered Nepal in January



KATHMANDU: Foreigners from 121 countries have entered Nepal in the first month of 2021.

According to the statistics made public by the Immigration Department, 8,874 foreigners from 121 countries entered Nepal during the month of January. In January last year, 65,983 foreigners had entered Nepal.

Only 13 foreigners entered the country in April after the government imposes a lockdown in late March. There were 30 foreigners in May, 100 in June, 195 in July and 265 in August. 582 people entered Nepal in September.

With the government opening hiking and mountaineering from October, the number of foreigners entered Nepal in October.

In January 2021, out of 9,000, the highest number was 4,000 from India, while in January, 1,877 foreigners came from China. 874 people have entered Nepal from the United States.

Similarly, 107 people entered from France, 104 from South Korea, 113 from Turkey and 136 from the United Kingdom, according to the data released by the department. Besides, there are less than a hundred people from other countries.

Similarly, 7,292 foreigners left Nepal in January. 47,267 Nepalis entered and 39,946 left the country, according to the department.
