Jagadish Kharel withdraws from RSP general secretary race

KATHMANDU: Former Communications Minister Jagadish Kharel has withdrawn from the contest for the post of general secretary under the first national general convention of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP).

Earlier, incumbent General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti had also withdrawn his candidacy.

With the withdrawal of the two candidates, eight contenders remain in the race for the general secretary position.

Candidates still in the contest include Ganesh Parajuli, Manish Jha, Pramod Neupane, Bipin Acharya and Ranju Darshana, among others.

Rajunath Pandey, Ganesh Karki and Sagar Dhakal are also among those seeking the post.

Although the RSP leadership continues efforts to build consensus in selecting office-bearers, competition for the general secretary position now appears almost certain.
