Resident doctors of Bir Hospital up the ante

KATHMANDU: Claiming that they have not received the allowance of their service during the pick hours of the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in the country, the resident doctors of Bir Hospital have staged a sit-in.

According to the agitating doctors, they have suspended all services except emergency ones and  have notified the administration that they would not resume their services unless their problems are addressed.

The doctors held the placards saying ‘Recognize the contribution of the resident doctors and provide COVID risk allowance at the earliest,’ ‘Ensure justice to all’ etc. and claimed that the hospital administration discriminated against the residential doctors who have been working for the treatment of COVID patients for the past 10 months.

At the call of the Resident Association of the National Academy of Medical Sciences (NAMS), 200 resident doctors of Bir Hospital have started the protest by boycotting other services of the hospital but for an emergency.

They have warned of taking to padlocking the office of the director of the hospital provided their demands are not addressed sincerely.
