Economist Dr. Thapa dies of COVID-19



KATHMANDU: Economist Dr. Govinda Bahadur Thapa has died from COVID-19.

COVID-19 infected Thapa succumbed to the virus in the course of treatment at Shahid Gangalal Hospital at 5 am today.

According to his family members, his funeral rites will be performed at Pashupati Aryaghat today itself.

Former Advisor to then Finance Minister Bharat Mohan Adhikari, Thapa had served as an Executive Director of Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

The government had given him an opportunity to Thapa to work at Asian Development Bank during the stint of  Surendra Pandey as the Finance Minister.

Born in Pokhara, Thapa is survived by his wife, one son and a daughter.
