Tourists arrival spike post-lockdown: Immigration Department



KATHMANDU: The number of foreign tourists’ arrival has begun rising since the lifting of the lockdown (last July) in the country.

According to the Department of Immigration (DoI), the month of March has recorded the highest influx of tourists since last July. Over 14,977 foreign tourists from 138 countries arrived in Nepal via the only international airport in the country — Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu.

Among them, 11,102 were male and 3,963 were female and 12 from others category, the DoI said.

Among the foreign tourists visiting Nepal, Indian tourists constitute the highest at 7,658 while 1,703 American tourists visited Nepal during this period. Altogether, 1,207 tourists came from China.

In January, 8,874 foreign tourists were recorded to have flown to Nepal while 9,146 had entered in February.

Meanwhile, 9,587 foreign tourists have returned from Nepal in March, the DoI said. RSS
