Prachanda-Nepal faction drops ‘no-confidence motion’ tabled against PM Oli

KATHMANDU: The Prachanda-Nepal faction of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has decided not to move ahead the no-confidence motion registered against Prime Minister KP Oli.

According to the Prachanda-Nepal faction’s Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, the party has decided to write off the no-confidence proposal tabled against Prime Minister Oli on December 20.

“As the questions against the validity and legal status of the government have been raised during the zero-hour period, we have decided not to take the proposal registered forward,” Shrestha said.

Despite getting the Supreme Court’s verdict on the dissolution of the House of Representatives to their favor, the Prachanda-Nepal faction has been hesitant to take further action against PM Oli owing to the legal and political complications that might ensue.

SC has labeled the period during the PM Oli’s decisions of dissolving the House and the SC’s overturning of it on February 23 as the zero-hour period.

Spokesperson Shrestha added that his party is mulling over various options and will decide after consultation with other political parties.
