NC President Deuba urges to release Suu Kyi immediately

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged Myanmar Army to release Aung San Suu Kyi immediately.

“NC urges the Myanmar Army to immediately release Suu Kyi and restore the elected government in the country,” NC President Deuba tweeted on Monday morning.

Myanmar’s military arrested top political leaders and government officials including President Wu Mint and leader Suu Kyi and declared one-year-long state of emergency on Monday morning.

After the completion of the election and before the first post-election parliamentary session started in Myanmar, the army arrested the leaders on Monday and declared the government unsuccessful.

After the army-backed party saw poor performance in the election, the army had accused the government of rigging in the election.
