17 Nepalis stranded at Dubai Airport for failing to pay fine

UAE: As many as 17 Nepalis returning to Nepal have been marooned at Dubai International Airport after failing to pay fine for expiry of the visa period.

They had already reserved their tickets to return home on a chartered flight of Nepal Airlines (RA-2292) on Monday.

The plane took off only about four hours later than scheduled as most of the passengers returning to Nepal had to pay immigration fines.

Most of the Nepali passengers returning home through Nepal Airlines today have paid the fine.

The UAE has said it would not impose fines on those whose visas expire before March 1 but has forced penalties on those whose visas expired after March. Due to which, Nepalis who returned home today were fined.
