KATHMANDU: Senior leader of Nepali Congress (NC) Ram Chandra Poudel-led faction has come down heavily on party President Sher Bahadur Deuba of trying to influence the upcoming party’s general convention.

Poudel is also prepared to meet and handover a letter of discontentment to Deuba in this regard.

A meeting of the Poudel-led faction held at the party central office in Sanepa criticized the party leadership of what it said ‘interfering’ in the distribution of the active membership as well as in the formation of departments.

The NC has already decided to hold its 14th general convention from February 19-22, 2021 in Kathmandu.

The disgruntled faction raised suspicion over the possibility of fair general convention alleging Deuba of ‘influencing’ the party.

Today’s meeting also accused Deuba of violating the code of conduct by constituting the departments after the announcement of the general convention.

The Poudel-led faction also emphasized on conducting all party activities in line with the party statute.

Today’s meeting also discussed the induction of Sunil Bahadur Thapa along with others in the NC party and dismissal of Govinda Raj Joshi and others from the party.
