Deuba bats for immediate ratification of MCC

KATHMANDU: President of the main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) Sher Bahadur Deuba on Tuesday said that the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) should be immediately ratified through Parliament.

Addressing the first meeting of House of Representatives that convened after the election of a new Speaker, Deuba said that the compact should be endorsed as it is the biggest grant Nepal is getting.

Deuba questioned, “Why should Nepal hesitate in receiving the US grant that will build infrastructures for exporting Nepal’s electricity to India?”

On a separate note, Deuba extended congratulations to newly-elected Speaker Agni Sapkota.
