Kathmandu Valley records coldest day so far



KATHMANDU: Kathmandu Valley recorded the coldest day so far of the season today.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology said Kathmandu recorded the lowest temperature of the year so far today. It stated that the minimum temperature in Kathmandu dropped to 4.5 degrees Celsius.

Before this, the minimum temperature on Friday was 8.5 degrees Celsius.

Meteorologist Barun Poudel said the mercury started to drop with the weather that was cloudy due to the influence of the Westerly wind since some days becoming fair since last night.

“If the sky is clear at night, the morning time temperature decreases and if it is cloudy in the night, the temperature increases in the morning,” Poudel said, explaining why it was felt so chilly today.

The weather will be clear throughout the country for some days now and it would be sunny.

The weather update shared by the Meteorological Forecasting Division states that the minimum temperature in Kathmandu valley was 4.5 degrees Celsius and the maximum was 18.5 degrees Celsius.

The lowest minimum temperature throughout the country was recorded in Jumla while the highest minimum temperature was recorded in Biratnagar in the last 24 hours.

The lowest minimum temperature in Jumla was minus 2.5 degrees Celsius while the highest minimum temperature in Biratnagar was 12.0 degrees Celsius.
