KATHMANDU: Nepal is currently under the combined influence of monsoonal and westerly winds, along with a low-pressure system developing over the Bay of Bengal, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.
The weather system has resulted in generally cloudy conditions across the country’s hilly and mountainous areas, with light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms reported in several locations.
The Department has forecast moderate rainfall in most provinces from today through tonight. Isolated areas of the hills in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as some parts of Madhesh Province, may receive heavy rainfall.
The prevailing weather conditions could increase the risk of localized flooding, landslides, and other weather-related incidents, particularly in vulnerable and mountainous areas. Authorities have urged the public to remain alert and take necessary precautions while travelling or engaging in outdoor activities in areas affected by heavy rain.
