Yangtze river in the throes of third flood peak, 45 million affected



BEIJING: The third flood peak of the Yangtze river induced by torrential rainfall has impacted already aggravating flood control system of China further worse.

According to China’s water resources ministry, the flood control and flood fighting situation is severe in the country.

The Ministry has warned against a new peak that may appear soon.

With the water level surge along Ezhou, the Yangtze River has flooded the Kwanyin temple built on a rocky island in the middle of the River.

According to the state media reports, the volume of water inflow that entered the reservoir has reached 50,000 cubic meters per second which may reach to 60,000 cubic meters per second around Tuesday.

The flood is said to be the worst since 1998.
