NCP leaders agree to let Secretariat decide on Standing Committee meet

KATHMANDU: Leaders of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) have agreed to summon the Secretariat meeting of the party to settle the intra-party feuds.

A meeting of leaders representing two different groups of the party held at a government building in Koteshwor on Monday decided to summon the Secretariat meeting on Tuesday.

The Secretariat meeting will decide whether to summon the Standing Committee meeting or not, according to Standing Committee member loyal to Nepal group, Raghuji Pant.

While Bishnu Poudel, Ishwor Pokharel, Shankar Pokharel and Pradeep Gyawali represented PM KP Oli faction, Bhim Rawal, Raghuji Panta and Surendra Pandey represented leader Nepal in the meeting.

During the meeting, leader Nepal was adamant that a policy of ‘one person, one post’ should be implemented within the party.

Earlier today, with the intra-party wrangling gaining a new height in NCP, leader Nepal and PM Oli held about an hour-long talk.

Nepal ‘camp’, backed by party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, is lately dissatisfied with the performance and ‘monopoly’ of PM Oli.

Dahal, Nepal, another senior leader Jhalanath Khanal, among others are irked with the way PM Oli is trying to impose his decisions unilaterally.

They are seeking an option to PM Oli saying that this is the only option to bail out the country from the current confusion.

Speculations are that the disgruntled section of the party is in favor of proposing senior leader Nepal as the next Prime Minister.

Senior leader Nepal insisted on ‘one-man-one-post’ to ensure smooth functioning of the party and the government, sources said.
