Rescue of stranded people going on: Home Ministry

KATHMANDU: The Home Ministry has informed that rescue of both Nepalis and foreigners stranded in various places is continued via land and air routes.

Issuing a press release on Friday, the Ministry stated 307 foreign tourists were rescued from Mustang, Kaski and Solukhumbu among others with the coordination of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

They were sent to their countries via Qatar Airways managed by the German Embassy on Friday.

Similarly, the local administration and security bodies were directed to ensure facilitation to the workers of construction projects in different districts to reach them to their districts.

Such workers have been rescued from the districts including Rupandehi, Banke, Lamjung, Parbat, Kaski, Parbat, Syangja, Dailekh, Tehrathum.

Meanwhile, a discussion was held with Kathmandu Metropolitan City mayor on how the problems seen at Okharpauwa of Nuwakot could be solved to continue waste management smoothly in Kathmandu Valley.

The local administration and security bodies in Nuwakot are also asked to coordinate with the Kathmandu Metropolitan City and regulate the disposal of waste.

Similarly, a discussion with the chiefs of the security agencies was held Friday. They were directed to allow the transportation of daily essentials including medicine, foodstuffs, drinking water, fruits, vegetables, feed to livestock and fish.

Vehicles carrying daily essentials are however strongly directed not to transport people. In case of complaints and suggestions, one can contact toll-free number 1149, the Ministry stated in a press release.
