68 tourists still stranded in Mustang

MYAGDI: 68 tourists who have reached to Mustang, the district beyond the Himalayas, trekking through Annapurna circuit are still stranded in Mustang due to countrywide lockdown.

The tourists who had been in the Annapurna circuit in their trekking prior to the enforcement of countrywide lockdown are still stuck in Mustang.

Earlier, Mustang Administration had arranged to rescue 121 tourists stranded there till Mar. 26. They were all sent to Kathmandu.

“Although 121 tourists stranded in Mustang were rescued and sent to Kathmandu there are 68 more still left here,” Journalist Niraj Thakali told to Khabarhub.

The Chief District Officer of Mustang Bed Prasad Aryal confirmed the news and added, “68 tourists of 21 nations are still here, we will be cared here till further notice from the federal government.”

The tourists from the USA, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Canada, Portugal, UK, Ukraine and New Zealand among many others are sent to Kathmandu by bus.

CDO Aryal said that the administration is trying to find out whether there are still more stuck on the way.

“With the COVID-19 alert we have enforced lockdown in Mustang,” Aryal said, “but after finding many tourists coming via Thorang La pass, in coordination with their embassies, we have arranged for their rescue.”
