KATHMANDU: A total of 121 foreign tourists stranded in Mustang have been rescued and sent to Kathmandu via land route.
The tourists from 21 different countries were stranded in the trekking areas in Mustang district after the Nepal government announced a week-long nationwide lockdown earlier this week to control the possible spread of coronavirus in the country.
The District Administration Office, Mustang said that they foreign nationals have been sent to Kathmandu.
Chief District Office Bed Prasad Aryal, said some 121 trekkers from America, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Canada, Portugal, Britain, Ukraine, New Zealand, among others, were rescued and sent back to Kathmandu in the last three days.
They were sent to Kathmandu in two passenger buses via Pokhara, he said.
