Death toll in Delhi violence climbs to 27



NEW DELHI: The death toll because of the ongoing violence in northeast Delhi has reached 27.

According to India media reports, 25 people died at GTB Hospital and two others succumbed to bullet injuries at JP Hospital.

Over 150 others sustained injuries over a period of three days after clashes broke out between pro-and anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protesters in North-East Delhi, Indian media reported.

According to Medical Superintendent Sunil Kumar, 50% of the injured have sustained bullet injuries.

Delhi Police head constable Ratan Lal is one among those killed in the violence.

Tension flared in Delhi as streets in localities such as Bhajanpura, Chand Bagh, Maujpur, Gokulpuri, Kardampuri and Jaffrabad witnessed battles between the members of two groups.
