16 police personnel in soup for embezzling seized gold



KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has recommended to suspend 16 police personnel including Police Inspector Khem Prasad Nepal for embezzling seized gold.

The anti-graft body recommend that the Nepal Police headquarters suspend 16 police personnel including Police Inspector Nepal of Border Police Post, Timure for misappropriating 422 grams of gold being smuggled into Nepal from China, informed Pradeep Kumar Koirala, spokesperson of the Nepal Police.

Border Police Post, Timure on December 27 last year, had seized the gold from a cargo truck, Na 6 Kha 4932, while entering into Nepal from China border Kerung during a security check.

The security personnel had shared the gold among themselves instead of handing over it to the custom office, according to CIAA.

Those suspended are Sub Inspector Bhoj Bahadur Sen Wali, Assistant Sub Inspector Ram Sharan Kumal, Head Constables Ram Sharan Rimal, Purushottam Khatri, Ramkaji Lama and Gopi Bahadur Tamang.

Similarly, other constables are Shiva Narayan Chaudhari, Yubaraj Kharel, Bhali Lal Rumba, Ramchandra BK, Rita Chaudhari, Manoj Ale, Chhekyu Dolma Moktan and Tara Bahadur Praja and office assistant Hari Bahadur Shrestha.
