COVID-19: NC leaders slam govt for ‘insufficient preparations’



KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leaders have stressed the need for consolidated efforts to fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

At a virtual interaction program organized today by Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation, USA Branch, the leaders said that government’s preparations for the prevention, control and treatment of coronavirus infection were not sufficient.

On the occasion, Foundation’s Chairperson Sujata Koirala stated that Nepal should go for self-dependency adding that we have adequate possibilities for economic prosperity.

She was of the view that Ayurvedic medicine should be prioritized through proper utilization of medicinal herbs.
Likewise, NC central committee member NP Saud also blamed the government for its poor role in prevention and control of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Also speaking at the event, leader Bir Bahadur Balayar stated that the country has entered the post-COVID-19 phase while calling for NC’s united voices for the control of the pandemic.

Furthermore, another leader Dhanraj Gurung argued that the NC should raise its voices as rampant corruption has been reported in the country at a time when we are gripped by the pandemic.

Speakers at the virtual programmes were Dr Dila Sangraula, Gururaj Ghimire, Kalyan Gurung, Pradip Poudel and others.
