Basant Chaudhary takes over as new HCCN-Dean



KATHMANDU: Basant Kumar Chaudhary, Honorary Consul-General of Morocco, took over as the new Dean of Honorary Consular Corps of Nepal (HCCN).

The deanship was handed over to Chaudhary by the outgoing Dean, Pradeep Kumar Shrestha, Honorary Consul of South Africa, in the presence of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.

In his welcome address, the outgoing Dean Shrestha informed the Minister and the AGM participants about the accomplishments during his one-year tenure.

Chaudhary’s tenure as Dean will last till July 23, 2021.

Dinesh Shrestha, Honorary Consul of Malta, was appointed as Vice-Dean at HCCN’s 13th AGM and Chartered Day. Similarly, Honorary Consul of Romania, Narayan Bajaj was appointed as Treasurer and Honorary Consul General of Luxembourg, Shriram Lamichane are the members of the Executive board.

As per HCC-N Charter, outgoing Dean Pradeep Kumar Shrestha will be the ex-official member of the board.

Honorary Treasurer, Narayan Bajaj, presented the organization’s financial report which was duly ratified by the AGM participants.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Gyawali, appreciated the HCCN’s role in strengthening Nepal’s ties with other countries.

He also appealed to HCCN members to carry on playing their vital role with dignity and highest moral standards.

Newly appointed Dean, Basant Chaudhary, appreciated the exemplary work done by his predecessor.

He also thanked the Foreign Affairs Minister for facilitating HCCN’s functioning. Ayket Eken, President of World Federation of Consuls (FICAC), appointed the outgoing Dean, Pradeep Shrestha, as a member of his advisory team.
