US Embassy seeks govt’s permission to take back its citizens back

KATHMANDU: The US Embassy in Kathmandu has formally requested the Government of Nepal to assist the embassy to facilitate the departure of U.S. citizens from Nepal.

The Embassy said on Thursday said it is exploring flight options that will depart from Kathmandu once the permission is granted.

The decision to this effect has been made owing to the fear of coronavirus spread in the country.

“At this time we have no further details, including timeline for these arrangements, but will provide them as they become available,” the US Embassy has said.

Arrangements such as these take time, as there are many moving parts, so we ask for patience and that all shelter in place until we have further information about a flight or multiple flights, it added.

The embassy has also asked all U.S. citizens in Nepal who are interested in departing the country to contact with the embassy or fill up a form https://bit.ly/3bpHev6 with more official information.
