13 highways blocked, two road sections operating one-way

KATHMANDU: Floods, landslides and road erosion triggered by continuous rainfall have disrupted traffic on several major highways and road sections across the country.

According to Nepal Police, 13 highways and road sections are currently completely blocked, while traffic is operating one-way on two others.

The Kanti Lokpath, which connects Kathmandu with Hetauda, the capital of Bagmati Province, has been blocked after a landslide at Pangdur in Bagmati Rural Municipality-3, Lalitpur. The Hetauda–Thingan road section in Makawanpur, which is linked to the Kanti Lokpath, has also been blocked by landslides.

On the BP Highway, the Khurkot–Nepalthok–Katunjebesi section connecting Kavrepalanchok and Sindhuli remains closed daily from 6:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. due to the risk of flooding.

Police said the following roads are also completely blocked:

Mechi Highway in Ilam

Mid-Hill Highway in Bhojpur

Mid-Hill Highway in Tehrathum

Araniko Highway in Sindhupalchok

Lamosangu–Ramechhap Road in Dolakha
