Diplomatic community in Nepal celebrate Losar with Tibetan refugees



KATHMANDU: The diplomatic community in Kathmandu celebrated the Tibetan Losar Iron-Rat year 2147 with Tibetan refugees.

European Union Ambassador and Head of EU Delegation to Nepal, Veronica Cody; Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Peter Budd; Ambassador of Switzerland to Nepal, Elisabeth von Capeller; US Deputy Chief of Mission Manuel P. Micaller, Jr.; and Deputy Chief of French Embassy Arnaud Champy, representatives from the German Embassy, UNHRC, among others participated in the celebration.

The celebration started with religious prayers, followed by serving guests with deysil (sweet rice dish), Khapsay (deep-fried pastry) and Tibetan tea.

Tsultrim Gyatso, Representative of the Tibetan Refugee Welfare Office addressed the gathering and thanked the guests for their gracious presence.

The celebration was also marked with some cultural performances, including two Tibetan, one Nepali and one Bhutanese song.
