Rijal demands PM to answer House over financial irregularities

KATHMANDU: The main opposition party, Nepali Congress, has urged the Prime Minister to carry out activities taking the Parliament into confidence.

In today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minendra Rijal of the NC said that the Prime Minister should make the Parliament clear about the issue of financial irregularities at a time when the questions about the different types of financial irregularities are being raised.

He added, “The Prime Minister should give an answer in the Parliament immediately about the incidents of different financial irregularities.”

He stressed that the PM should be accountable for the Parliament.

The NC leader also demanded the government’s opinion on different projects, blaming that corruption had taken place in course of purchasing aircraft of Nepal Airlines Corporation and satellite, providing Nepal Trust’s land on lease and expanding 4G service of Nepal Telecom.

Expressing concern about the new form of corruption taking place in the country, Sarita Giri of Socialist Party demanded the government to form a parliamentary probe committee to investigate on different cases of financial irregularities.

Giri complained to the government for not carrying out any activities to control corruption.

Similarly, Pramod Sah of Rastriya Janata Party argued that although understanding was reached with the ruling party time and again for an amendment to the constitution, it has not been implemented yet.
