Govt issues white paper on properties of Nepal Trust

KATHMANDU: The government today issued a white paper on the properties owned by Nepal Trust.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishwor Pokharel, the chairman of the Trust, issued the white paper on Tuesday listing details of the properties of the Trust – a body formed to manage the properties owned by the then royal family.

The government issued the white paper following reports of irregularities while leasing the properties by the government.

The government has been criticized for being involved in irregularities while leasing the properties of the Trust – the most recent being the property given to Yeti Holdings.

According to the government, Nepal Trust owns around 22,000 ropani of land. Over 15,000 ropani is forest, it said. In Kathmandu alone, the Trust has 4,442 ropani of land.

The Nepal Trust has also USD 148,000 and Pound Sterling 50,120, besides some shares in the banks and financial institutions.
