KATHMANDU: Lawmakers today drew the government’s attention towards the spread of the Covid-19 in South Korea and its possible implications on Nepali workers there.

In today’s session of the House of Representatives (HoR), lawmakers asked the government to brief them about the status of Nepali in South Korea.

Nepal Communist Party (NCP)’s Dharmasheela Chapagain said Nepalis in South Korea were likely to bear the brunt of the infection.

She sought their prompt rescue. The coronavirus also known as Covid-19 originated from Wuhan of Hubei province in China has spread globally.

Lawmakers also demanded that the government needs to instantly come up with measures to prevent the infection risk in the country.

Lawmaker Pushpa Bhusal of Nepali Congress expressed concern over the lack of mechanism at the country’s sole international airport to deal with the issue.

She questioned as to why there was no initiation to introduce the virus detective mechanism and set up quarantine centers in the country?

Bhusal also sought the government’s attention to rescue Nepalis from South Korea.
