India, US ink $3 billion defense deals



NEW DELHI: India and the US have signed defense deals worth $3 billion.

US President Donald Trump on Tuesday announced as India Prime Minister Narendra Modi said India and the United States have decided to take the ties to a global partnership level.

US President Trump on Day 2 of his visit to India, in a joint statement with PM Modi, said the two countries finalized defense deals worth USD 3 billion.

Meanwhile, PM Modi said the defense cooperation between Indian and the US is reflective of the rising strategic partnership.

The defense deals include procurement of 24 MH-60 Romeo helicopters by India from the United States at a cost of $2.6 billion.

Likewise, they also sealed another contract to acquire six AH-64E Apache helicopters for $800 million from the US. (With inputs from Agencies)
