Hanumante River Cleanup Campaign enters 100th week

KATHMANDU: The Hanumante River Cleanup Campaign has completed its 100th week on Saturday.

Minister for Forest and Environment Shakti Bahadur Basnet and other leaders attended a program organized by Campaign at Radheradhe of Bhaktapur.

On the occasion, Minister Basnet said that the government was working to translate the commitment of prosperity into action, adding that all three layers of governments should work in a collaborative manner in the federal set up.

Likewise, former industry minister Mahesh Basnet said that Hanumante cleanup drive has developed as an exemplary model in the country.

He also promised to provide compensation to the landowners along the Hanumante corridor where none will bear the loss.

Member of Bagmati State Assembly Rajani Jonchhe, Chief District Officer of Bhaktapur Humkala Pandey and others attended the program.

So far, over 95,000 people and 250 plus organizations contributed to the Hanumante cleanup drive and a total of 1600 tonnes of garbage was collected, the campaigners said.
