Minister Gyawali expresses sorrow over Turkey earthquake

KATHMANDU: Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali on Monday expressed sorrow over the loss of lives by an earthquake in Turkey.

“We are saddened by the news of a devastating earthquake in eastern Turkey. The government of Nepal expresses condolences on the loss of life and wishes for the speedy recovery of the injured. The people of Nepal are with the friendly Turkish people at this tragedy,” he said in a Tweet.

At least 22 people have been killed in a 6.8 magnitude quake, centered on the town of Sivrice in Elazig province, which caused buildings to collapse and sent residents rushing into the street.
