Two Iranian nationals arrested in Nepal for theft



KATHMANDU: Police have arrested two Iranian nationals on the charge of stealing money from a money transfer in the capital city.

A police team from Metropolitan Police Circle, Kalimati arrested them on Friday for stealing money from Prashna Money Transfer, Tahachal.

The alleged are Ali Maleki and Bhahid Ajimik Hamala. Maliki had been to Nepal six times and Bhahid two times before.

According to SSP Uttam Raj Subedi, they had been to the money transfer on January 20 where they managed to steal Rs 66,000 pretending to exchange its dollar equivalent.

According to the police, the thugs had been to the money transfer in a scooter where they asked a female staff there to show the type of Nepali notes.

To ensure their genuineness they showed one hundred dollar note and asked the staff there to show first the thousand and then the five hundred rupees bundles.

In the meantime, one of them managed to take out Rs 66, 000 from the bundles.

Later, the police arrested them on the basis of CCTV footage.

The primary investigation of the police shows that they have been coming to Nepal for theft and robbery.
