KATHMANDU: The government has mobilized 9,000 security personnel to implement the lockdown in the Kathmandu Valley.

Talking to Khabarhub, DIG Bishwo Raj Pokharel, chief of Metropolitan Police Office, Kathmandu, said the lockdown has been implemented fully in the capital.

“The lockdown has been fully implemented so far,” said DIG Pokharel, adding, “Some people being deprived of information have come out of their houses. We have returned them home after briefing them of the lockdown.”

According to DIG Pokharel, no one has been arrested for violating the lockdown in the Valley so far. He further said that in case of emergencies, they can come out of their houses in coordination with the nearby police station.

“In case of emergencies such as if a member of a family is taken ill, they can inform the police or dial at 100. We will rescue them in no time,” said Pokharel.

The major cities including the Kathmandu Valley are wearing a deserted look due to lockdown since early today.

A few number of vehicles belonging to press, ambulances and those ferrying essential commodities are seen plying the roads.
